Four weeks ago, I stepped into a corporate role as an Event Design Producer that many people would consider a dream opportunity. A respected organization. A six-figure salary.A clear path.
On paper, it looked like success.
But the last four weeks have reminded me of something I’ve always known about myself: success only matters if it aligns with who you truly are.
For over 25 years, my career has been built around creativity, storytelling, and designing experiences that leave people with a better sense of themselves. Whether through television, events, creative direction, or community programming, my work has always been about connection and impact.
I thrive when I’m creating frameworks, designing experiences, and leading rooms filled with ideas and possibility.
What I realized very quickly in this role was that the day-to-day demands required a level of screen time, operational grids, and cognitive intensity that didn’t align with how I work best or how my nervous system functions.
Living with a chronic neurological migraine disorder means I have to be deeply aware of my environment. Extended screen exposure, constant digital workflows, and high cognitive load can trigger neurological responses that affect my health.
Within weeks, my body was telling me something very clearly.
Slow down.Pay attention.This isn’t sustainable.
And when your body sends that signal, ignoring it isn’t strength, it’s denial.
So I made a difficult but empowering decision: I chose my health, my integrity, and my energy.
Walking away from a six-figure salary is not something most people expect you to do. But when you know your worth and understand the value of your energy, money alone is not enough to keep you somewhere that doesn’t align.
Energy is one of the most valuable assets we have.
How we spend it determines what we build in our lives and the impact we create for others.
For me, protecting my energy means focusing on the work that allows me to operate at my highest level of creativity and leadership.
It means building spaces where ideas can flourish.
It means continuing to produce experiences that inspire people to reconnect with themselves and their stories.
This next chapter brings me back to exactly where I belong building and creating through Las Flores Media and La Casita, where strategy, storytelling, content creation, and meaningful gatherings come to life.
La Casita was never meant to just be a place. It’s a creative home for ideas, collaboration, and community.
And Las Flores Media continues to grow as a creative agency focused on helping people and brands tell their stories through strategy, content, and immersive experiences.
The last four weeks weren’t a failure.
They were a reminder.
A reminder that when you know who you are, you have the courage to choose alignment over appearance, purpose over pressure, and well-being over expectation.
Sometimes the most powerful move you can make is simply returning to your own path
and protecting the energy that allows you to create your best work.
And that’s exactly what I’m doing.
